La Cage Aux Folles
Graham Norton – “Albin”
VO: After a hugely successful run at the Menier Chocolate Factory “La Cage Aux Folles” has upped sticks and moved to the west end. And the campest show in town has now recruited Graham Norton to take on the role of the leading lady.
Graham Norton:
I trained as an actor and this is a world that I wanted to get into, but back then couldn’t so sort of veered into comedy. I saw the first road tour of La Cage Aux Folles in 1984 and I remember thinking when I’m old enough to play that, I would love, love, love to do it.
Basically it’s about a gay couple who’ve been together for about 20 years and they’ve brought up the son of one of the men as their own and they’re running a club. That son then asks them to make a huge sacrifice, and it’s kind of how family love can conquer all. I think it’s a really lovely story

If you fancy seeing Graham’s feminine side then you’ll find him at the Playhouse Theatre until the end of April. Tickets cost from £17.50 and the nearest stations are Embankment and Charing Cross.
