Hoxton Bars

Hoxton has become an uber cool place to go for a good night out in London.  There are bars and clubs aplenty all within a stones throw of each other plus the kind of vibe you’d expect to find in a world class city.

I always felt that there was a lot of parallels between Hoxton and the east Village in New York where there was that strong artist’s community trying to live and trying to make ends meet in a run down part of town followed by interesting bars, interesting venues.

And that’s definitely the case in Hoxton where drinking dens soaked in history sit comfortably alongside modern bars lit up with neon.  And clubs that have creatively transformed disused urban spaces.

Cargo used to be a car park and we were able to change to usage for entertainment, music, nightclub/music and drink.  Being able to put on a Brazilian gig one night, a Cuban gig the next, followed by drum and bass, then a hip hop then a rock, and seeing all the different audiences that you can attract and the different sub cultures and the different tribes that there are, I find that very exciting.

There’s such a variety in Hoxton.  Variety in music, variety in food, and variety in bars you can just go out and meet people and have a great evening.

And if your idea of a great evening involves something a little more hi-tech.  Hoxton’s got that covered too, at Dream Bags and Jaguar Shoes those in the know can try their hand at an alternative DJ night once a month.  There’s no vinyl here, just pocket sized dj-ing.  Bring your ipid down, upload the songs you like and have a wonderful evening.  It’s excellent.
