Gilgamesh
VO
Camden is an area more known for its Kebab shops than its fine dining, but that could all be about to change with the arrival of Gilgamesh.

We offer the best of Asia under one roof. Panasian. We have some Chinese, some Japanese, and some south east Asian dishes on the menu. So basically you have the whole array of south east Asian cuisine.

And with Top Chef Ian Pengelley in the kitchen, you know this will be Panasian food of the highest caliber.
IAN PENGELLEY (IP)
It's all about food that I like to eat and the whole concept is about sharing the food, so everybody, they all have dumplings or sushi, they share, they talk, they drink, have fun. There's the beef with turkey sauce, my version of turkey sauce. The squid which is infamous. The snapper, the whole fish standing up... in Thai it's called 'Fish Goes Walking.' There's, we like, we do dumplings, with egg white soup in the top, its kind of, things we take, and then we just make them a bit different. I think London was over due for one of these restaurants, a very kind of New Yorky feel about it, and I think its very brave that it was done in Camden which is, you know, good for Camden.

Gilgamesh was the king of ancient Aruk, now modern Iraq, which lends the restaurant its unique decor.

The decoration, basically, there's been ten thousand indians working on this project for the past year, carving wood, carving brass. As you can see, everything is very ornately done. It's an experience. We're more than a restaurant, more than a lounge. We're a venue. We're a venue that you get transported in time. And that's unique. When people come here and they have this visual overload, and when they taste the cocktails, they taste the food, that's as I said, you know,it's a whole experience.
