We’ve been here thirty years since day one of Alfie’s opening. It’s a good place to visit, it’s a gem of a place, a real find.

Alfie’s is a wonderful place to shop, because there really is quite a large variety of vintage dealers within the one building. We specialize in costumes and accessories from the 1920s and 30s. We do everything from evening gowns, coats, shoes, beaded flapper dresses, and we do pants. We really do big pants. You can buy something from five pounds, might get you a nice hand embroidered handkerchief, right up to fifteen hundred pounds you might have to pay to get a really special dress. I’m really proud of all my stock, but some of the pieces that I’m really, really fond of, at the moment. One of them is a Hartnell dress that I’ve got, it’s a two piece, and it’s Hartnell couture from the 1950s, and if you look at it you’ll be able to see that the underskirt has been beaded to match the rest of the dress so that, should it be seen, it wouldn’t look at all unsightly.

I deal in Shelly, Classclip, Susie Cooper and Charlotte Reed. We are very proud to say that the majority of dealers come here from all over the world, also from London itself, England. It’s a very happy market.

We sell collectibles and cutlery, silverware, silverplate, lighting especially, murano and guilded lights. We also have a range of enamel boxes and mirrors and dresser sets, which is quite a special feature, just a whole range of things. If you’ve never been to Alfie’s then you should come, because it’s just a real good find. There’s treasures for everybody, just amazing things there. There’s a mega amount of items that you wouldn’t find anywhere else.

We do get a lot of celebrities. I mean, we’ve had Madonna, we’ve had Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, just too many, too numerous to mention. Alfie’s is definitely London’s best kept secret, and let’s hope that a few more people might just find out.
